Teaching dog agility weaves with a weave chute

There are many methods to teach dogs how to weave. Having attended a variety of agility camps and agility seminars, I've seen quite a few of the top handlers present their preferred method of weave training. Their training techniques vary, but the one thing they do have in common, the end result, their dogs all weave fast and efficiently.

The Weave Chute is one method of training weaves. The Weave Chute is a structure where the weave poles pull apart and the dog runs down the middle channel. The weave poles are setup on a base either PVC or metal, the even number poles pull back to the same side and the odd numbered poles pull apart to the same side. The poles are brought closer together, training a chain of sessions, until the weave poles are in a straight line.

To start, the weave poles are about 3 feet apart. Set your dog on a Stay (Sit, Down, or Stand). Leave your dog and go to the other end of the chute or channel. Call your dog, allow them to run as fast as they can through the chute, when they get near you through a toy straight ahead or between your legs. You want them to keep moving past you and not slow up as they get near you.

Move the weaves closer together, try 2 feet for a few sessions, then 1 foot apart for a few sessions. When the weaves are about 1 foot apart your dog will begin to actually begin the weaving behavior, depending on the size of your dog of course. This is the stage to add guide wires. The guide wires help the dog stay on path through the weaves. Your dogs speed will most likely slow a little in this stage. This is all right, he is thinking more and feeling the weaves against him for the first time.

You are still using your Stay at one end of the weaves, leaving your dog and going to the other end of the weaves and calling him through. Make sure your dog is successfully coming to you through the weave path, not jumping over the guide wires and running to you. If this happens replace him. If it happens again, go back and open the weave chute a little more. Practice until he can come to you down the weave chute with 70% to 80% accuracy, not many of us are 100% right in everything we try. Begin moving the weave poles closer together in inches now. Most dogs do well even if the weaves are off set by one inch , but somehow when they are setup in a line, they must look different and training sessions may seem stalled for awhile. Be patient, practice with your weaves offset by one inch then in a straight line, if you encounter problems, go back to the one inch offset. Your dog will soon realize he can weave when the poles are in a straight line.

The next transition is taking off the guide wires. With 12 poles, you use 10 guide wires. The first guide wires I remove are from the middle. The last ones to be removed are the entry and exit guide wires. Weaving is mentally challenging to you and your dog, so be patient with your dog and yourself. Be prepared to put in a few long months of training to get those fast and efficient weaves.

Uk personal debt problems creating hardship for nation s young adults

:
Problem personal debt levels, especially for people under 25, in the UK have risen since last year according to the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS). In a report released this week they revealed that the average client aged under 25 coming for counselling in 2005 owes Ј15,000. The report also states that “More young people are getting themselves into situations where they find themselves unable to meet their unsecured credit commitments.”

CCCS chairman Malcolm Hurlston said, "The growing trend for young people to get into these amounts of problem debt is a concern. Bankruptcy figures are soaring, and this rise may be accounted for by the young who are without assets and who have overspent on credit cards and personal loans These trends are a natural consequence of the desensitization of borrowing - credit cards have blurred the distinction between borrowing and spending and for many young people, student loans have made borrowing normal..”

Financial comparison site Moneynet ( moneynet. co. uk ) believes that, students face a potentially ‘calamitous’ problem with their credit histories on graduation thanks to the now inevitable prospect of leaving college or university with high debt levels. Moneynet CEO Richard Brown said “The majority of graduates are looking at servicing a minimum debt of Ј15,000 until their mid-thirties.”

University debts are now seriously starting to cause problems for the younger generation. The debts generated at college have for many combined with the spiraling house prices forcing them to stretch themselves financially. Those affected include both those prospective first-time buyers trying to get on the housing ladder and parents trying to help out their children with cash or by being a mortgage guarantor.

Another problem area, although banking organization APACS is keen to emphasize that it only affects a minority of people, is that of credit card debt. Jennifer Brumby from the Newcastle branch of the CCS said, "People are now taking out credit to pay off their credit. But when you get that far into debt, you are really on a slippery slope. People will take out a loan to pay off their credit card and then find they haven't got enough money to survive on so they start running up their credit card bill again and the whole cycle starts over.”

Following accusations by the Citizens Advice Bureau - adviceguide. org. uk/ (CAB), it seems that the situation does not appear to be greatly helped by the use of payment protection insurance (PPI), which is specifically designed to help those potentially liable to fall into debt by repaying personal loans or credit card debt if they fall ill or lose their jobs and are therefore no longer able to meet their financial commitments. The charity found that PPI is failing many of those who need it most, adding to their debts instead of protecting them against hard times. The CAB said that, “in many cases it is more about providing an additional source of profit for the financial industry than about protecting consumers”. The premiums for policies when added to the full amount being borrowed can increase the cost of borrowing on some credit cards by up to 9% per year. The CAB has lodged a “super complaint” on behalf of their clients, to get the Office of Fair Trading to launch an investigation into the issue.

The CAB stated several different problems with the policies including:

- common difficulties such as bad backs or mental health issues which often lead to claims, are being excluded to prevent payouts
- self employed or contract workers are frequently excluded from claiming
- time limited payout periods reduce the length of time that claims will be paid out for
- low payment amounts being paid for successful claims, usually only covering only the possible minimum payments on a loan
- delays in payments being made following the initial claim and leading to increased financial difficulties for the claimant

CAB has said that 85% of its clients who had tried to claim on their PPI policies had been turned down, however the industry is claiming that only 15% of claims are rejected.

David Harker, CAB chief executive, said "We badly need an official investigation of how this market is operating, leading to effective regulation that ensures a fair deal for all consumers, and which also protects the most vulnerable".

More of the nation’s young adults are coming out of university and starting their working life with greater debts. Many first-time buyers are finding the cost of housing beyond their finances. More emphasis is being placed on individuals providing for their own long-term future privately. Now the financial safety nets are being shown to contain so many holes that more people are falling through than being caught. The financial future of a generation of young Britons is looking bleak. As more financial choice is being made available to people, less automatic help is becoming accessible from the government and more responsibility is also being required of consumers themselves. Debt may for most people, have become a generally accepted part of modern UK life, and should no longer be seen as something to be scared of, but discovering how to control it and not let it take over control of your life is an important lesson which is best learned as early as possible.

Guide to seo consultants and their services

SEO consultant services are varied and have diverse services that deal mainly with search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is the process of making the website reach higher search rankings in search engine queries by revising it or designing it to be easier to navigate and more user-friendly to both crawlers, spiders and human browsers. The aim of search engine optimization is increase online visibility. This is so that the site generates more traffic in hopes to convert that traffic into more sales and income. SEO consultants know have plenty of expertise to make this happen.

SEO Consultant Scope of Service:

A SEO consultant should be able to provide various services to the client at a reasonable cost. The services usually offered by an SEO consultant includes but may not be limited to keyword or key phrase research along with checking out the competition, SEO web design for your site and other web pages connected to your site, working with the necessary codes and content for the site, build link popularity for the site and website SEO maintenance for the particular site. Other services of a particular SEO consultant may be excluded by other consultants. Other services which may be included are submission to search engines, looking for optimum URL’s or domain names for your site, providing content for the site or strategizing your whole Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Strategy.

Keyword or key phrase research entails researching the optimum words or phrases that are widely used during searches. These keywords and key phrases will then be integrated into articles that are relevant for the site by the SEO consultant. Relevance is important because many crawlers look for this when they go through a site. The date and information that robotic spiders seek out need to be relevant to the site they are connected to. These will help in the efficient and proper indexing of the site and will help to rank the site. This is why content is important to a web site and the same holds true for inbound links to your site relevant links are worth a lot more than links from irrelevant sites. By keeping the competition under the radar, the SEO consultant will be able to see what methods work for similar sites. This means less trial and error when picking out keywords and phrases and other methods of search engine optimization. The SEO consultant will need to be vigilant regarding the changes in trends of keywords and key phrases since these changes can be seasonal. This is where SEO maintenance work comes to fore. The job of the SEO consultant will continue well after the website is established if this is part of the agreement between the SEO consultant and the client.

SEO web design for the client’s site is also a big influence in the ranking of the site and the popularity of the site to human browsers. This is because SEO web design makes the site a lot easier to navigate and load. Easy navigating and quick loading are some of the reasons why visitors to the site might want to go back to it. The SEO consultant will most likely suggest to the client several easy ways of optimizing the web site. Among these suggestions will be scaling down the larger pictures to enable quick loading and making the site more navigable to users.

Having relevant content is also a must since relevant content is what spiders are looking for when they visit a site. A site that does not meet the requirements and needs of the internet surfer will be abandoned promptly upon the discovery that the site is irrelevant. The SEO consultant must also make sure that web pages connected to your site are easy to reach and that there are also relevant links in the site to promote it with other similar sites. Link building will help promote and build popularity for your site. There are many other sites that wish to use links as a way of getting their ranking to rise.

Site maintenance is a necessary service of an SEO consultant. In order to achieve higher ranking during searches, a site must be continually maintained and primed to meet the demands and needs of users and that of the search engine. Some SEO companies use unethical methods to achieve this goal. Using black hat techniques to get higher rankings will eventually lead a search engine to ban the site and maybe also the SEO company or SEO consultant who employed black hat methods to achieve higher ranking. Due to the numerous possibilities of manipulation during search engine optimization of web sites, many search engines have set rules and guidelines which will control and manage the sites being submitted to them. Website submissions are included in what an SEO consultant will do for a client.

Employing black hat techniques to ensure higher ranking can be dangerous for both the client and the SEO consultant. This can lead to being banned from the search engine and its services and being branded as a black hat SEO consultant.

Homeschool id cards

The number of homeschool students grew from 1.2 in 2003 to a staggering 2.4 million in 2006 according to the National Home Education Research Institute. With this type of growth you have to wander what is the cause for the amazing increase in homeschool attendance.

Based on surveys, there are three primary reasons children are being trained at home instead of the government funded solution. The primary reason parents have chosen to train their kids is to incorporate religion into their curriculum. Tied closely are other parents that have decided to incorporate moral training into their courses. Both of these have been continuously removed from the education children receive when trained publicly. The third reason parents have chosen to train their own children is because the alternative is viewed as an inferior education in comparison to the education they could receive at home.

When reviewing the results of the education being provided these kids are commonly testing up to thirty percent higher than publicly educated students while saving taxpayers an astounding 16 billion dollars annually.

One of the major challenges these 2.4 million students and their teachers are faced with is being able to prove their status as homeschoolers. When students and teachers come from a public or even a private school they are provided with school ID cards. Alternatively homeschoolers are forced to seek out a solution for themselves when it comes to school identification.

There are several reasons homeschoolers need identification cards starting with the need to prove they are not breaking the truancy laws of the country. Commonly home schooled students are not on the same schedule as publicly educated kids. Having the ability to produce a school ID card would be a simple solution, but without one it appears the kid is ditching class.

Another reason homeschool students want identification cards is to receive the benefits that many retailers offer to kids in school. Even the local theater offers discounted ticket prices to students and teachers carrying their school identification card. Parents that have become homeschool educators can receive discounts from both office supply and school supply stores if they can prove they are teachers.

Other reasons for needing ID cards range from boarding a plane since 9/11 to even being able to take college entrance exams such as SATs. The reasons are numerous why teachers and students need an answer.

Creatively these homeschoolers have found their answer by printing ID cards on their home/office printer and then laminating them at the local office supply store. Others have found solutions to produce plastic ID cards. Plastic or PVC identification cards are obviously of a much higher quality than laminating paper cards, although until recently it has been an expensive alternative. One of the main reasons plastic ID cards have been expensive is because of minimum order sizes and setup charges often charged by vendors.

A new vendor, FullIdentity. com has developed an affordable plastic ID card solution that works well for homeschools. Students or teachers can design their school ID card online as well as upload their own pictures. Orders can be made easily for even just one ID card if that is all that is needed.

Healthy and nutritious benefits from yogurt

It has been given different names but the nutritious value of yogurt makes it useful for our continuous and profoundly used up body. It should be part of your daily diet as it helps with increasing ways of creating a clean digestive system. The process of making yogurt must have developed somewhere in Asia or Europe as there is a huge supply of milk.

In Europe and Asia, cow’s milk is very prevalent; buffalo’s milk is also used in India. In Russia goats and sheep’s milk are a good source of providing milk from which the rich and smooth yogurt is formed. Yogurt can be made by the use of Soya which is considered as a very healthy drink.

By being an excellent desert, yogurt also happens to be very nutritive with many golden benefits written to its name. It has all the essential source of proteins, vitamins and minerals. These help to create a proper balance for your body. High content of calcium also proves to be excellent for our digestive system. It helps it cooling down your system rather than burning it up with acidity problems. As the proteins are easily digested you can have this very easily which tends to do wonders to your body.

It can also be made into butter milk wherein 90% water is used, but the taste happens to be very good for your mouth and your stomach accepts it easily. People who have tender digestive system can have this daily which would help them tremendously. As the digestabilty factor of the yogurt is better in comparison to the milk due to which you can have it very easily. It is been said that consuming at least 250 gms yogurt a day would help to improve your thiamine. This thiamine helps in maintaining your appetite as well as the continuous growth of your body.

Acidity can be easily fought by drinking butter milk. If this butter milk happens to be sour it turns out be even better as it helps in fighting the influx of lactic acid in the system. You can use yogurt in different forms which makes it more interesting and also very appetizing for many children and adults too. It also contains Vitamin B12 which is very good for your body. It has a fine resistance to fight diseases. Eating yogurt helps with vaginal yeast infection. It also helps in weight loss which for many may be a very significant problem. Lactobacillus is a pro-biotic bacterium which helps in curing arthritis as well as preventing it.

Understanding the stages of alzheimer s disease

A person’s mental and physical abilities deteriorate as he progresses through various stages of Alzheimer’s disease. However, the way the disease manifests can vary quite widely from one person to another.

Knowing about Alzheimer’s stages can help the caregivers plan for and cope with the disease better. The following is based on Dr. Reisberg’s study which divides the disease into seven stages.

Stage 1: This is when no symptom of the disease is manifest and full mental and physical functions are retained.

Stage 2: At this stage, there is some loss of memory and the person may forget names of friends and family at times. The person is full aware that his mental functions are declining. This is often mistaken to be the result of normal ageing processes rather than as the beginning of Alzheimer’s disease.

Stage 3: This is still an early stage of the disease, but the symptoms are more noticeable now. The sufferer may go into denial. There is an inability to concentrate on tasks and performance at work may deteriorate.

The person becomes more anxious. They get lost quite easily in unfamiliar territory. Misplacing objects is quite common at this stage. Their ability to remember recently acquired information deteriorates.

Stage 4: At this stage, the person can’t perform complex tasks on his own. Examples include filing tax returns or handling finances in general. As a way out, they may want to avoid such situations altogether.

The ability to concentrate deteriorates further and so does memory. They may not be able to remember some events in their lives. Mood swings are common.

Stage 5: Now the patients will need assistance in ordinary tasks like picking appropriate clothes to wear. They may be unable to remember parts of their lives, although they will still remember basic information about themselves, their family and some friends.

Their sense of time begins to deteriorate as well.

Stage 6: This is a moderate to severe stage of Alzheimer’s disease. Forgetfulness accelerates and they may not even remember the name of their spouse. Large chunks of their lives are forgotten.

They definitely need help to cope with routine activities like bathing, dressing, etc. Incontinence may set in at this stage. Their sleep patterns may be disturbed.

Their personality will likely undergo a complete change. They may become violent or exhibit obsessive behaviour.

Stage 7: This is severe Alzheimer’s disease. The ability to speak is limited to less than a dozen words. They may lose the ability to walk, sit up or even hold their head up. This is a stage where the brain is apparently incapable of directing the body.

These stages of Alzheimer’s disease may occur differently in various individuals. What is described above is a composite picture that can help to understand how a person’s faculties diminish with the progress of Alzheimer’s disease.

Secrets of teaching yoga

What you are about to read applies to teaching, in general. In fact, we are all teachers, to some degree. You teach your friends, co-workers, strangers and family members on a daily basis.

The example you set teaches someone in some way. Whether you are a positive role model, or not, people, and the world, react to you. Sorry to say, you have more responsibility than you thought possible.

Do you realize that when you hurt one person, it will set a chain of events into motion? Even worse is that, most violent acts were stimulated by smaller, seemingly unimportant events.

When you talk to your students, always show mutual respect. Don’t take advantage of your position as a Yoga teacher to temporarily feed your ego.

The first thing a Yoga teacher should instill, in his or her students, is self-motivation. The serious Yoga student must be a self starter. This is a person who practices Yoga at home, as well as in class. They don’t depend on their friends to come to class, and they show up like “clockwork.”

How can you make your Yoga students become self motivators?

You must show up to class early, enthused, and energized. Encourage all of your students and sincerely praise their achievements. The truth is, Yoga is like music, you can teach a student the basics, but to be a master teacher, you want to stir the creativity from within.

When your students become creators, you can help them refine their Yoga practice and watch them become self motivators.

A truly great teacher will produce teachers, who surpass him or her; and isn’t “passing the torch” what it’s all about?

Nature lover s paradise - hyde park

Hyde Park is one of London’s finest historic landscapes covering an area of 350 acres. There is something for everyone in Hyde Park. With over 4,000 trees, a lake, a meadow, horse rides and more one can naturally forget that he/she is in the middle of London. Hyde Park lies between the Bayswater Road in the north and Knightsbridge in the south. Park Lane lies to the east and Kensington Gardens to the west. At the junction of Edgware Road and Bayswater Road just outside the Park, is a triangular plaque set in the road which marks the site of Tyburn Gallows, where public executions took place until 1783. These were supposed to act as a deterrent, but instead became a public entertainment.

The iron railings surrounding Hyde Park were removed during World War II when there was a big drive to collect iron, steel and aluminum to make war weapons. At Hyde Park corner, which is a very busy junction just outside the south east corner of the Park, is Wellington Arch which has a war memorial statue on top of it. Visitors are welcome at Wellington Arch and viewing galleries and exhibitions have been created inside the Arch.

Aspley House which was the home of the first Duke of Wellington (1769-1852) hero of Waterloo and later Prime Minister, is situated at 149 Piccadilly, at Hyde Park corner. The house now contains a museum which is open to public. Along Knightsbridge from Hyde Park Corner is The Albert Memorial which is a large statue of Prince Albert. Prince Albert was married to Queen Victoria and the memorial was erected at a cost of Ј120,000. An Exhibition was held in The Crystal Palace which is a large glass gallery in Hyde Park. In this exhibition in addition to the catalogue the memorial contains 169 portraits of poets, architects and painters. At each corner is an illustration of Europe, America, Asia and Africa, whilst figures represent Commerce, Engineering, Manufacture and Agriculture.

The Hyde Park is place for people of all ages. There are a few special sites which one must see when going to Hyde Park. One of these landmarks is the Serpentine, a large artificial lake, which separates the Hyde Park from neighboring Kensington Gardens. It is a popular place for boating and swimming. Another famous landmark is et the south end of Hyde park known as Rotten Row, a famous bridle path. The road is almost four miles long and is used as a horse riding, cycling, rollerblading and jogging route. The term 'Rotten Row' is derived from the French ‘route du roi’ or King's road. Speaker’s Corner is place which was established to create a venue where people would be allowed to speak freely. Here, every Sunday people stand on a soap box and proclaim their views on political, religious or other items, sometimes interrupted and challenged by their audience. The Marble Arch is just outside Hyde Park, at the north-east corner. The design by John Nash was based on the Arch of Constantine in Rome. Another arch, the Wellington Arch, can be found on the south-east corner of the park, connecting Hyde Park with Green Park. Inside the arch are exhibitions and galleries open to visitors. Have a enjoyable day.

Electric gates what are they made of

Electric gates are made up of two main parts: the motor and the opener. There are also some accessories that you can use together with them. Knowing these will allow you to determine common electric gate problems.

Perhaps you’ve seen them, but you are just aren’t sure what they are made of. Electric gates are composed of some parts that help make them work. It’s very important that you know about them, so when something happens to your gate, you can easily pinpoint the problem and conduct at least the most basic repair.

Common Parts of Electric Gates

There are two main parts that make up electric gates:

1. Electric gate motor. This is considered to be the most important component in your electric gates. This allows them to move—open and close—without any human intervention.

There are different kinds of motor for electric gates; and they vary in terms of where they are going to be used and the amount of power they generate. You can’t expect the same motor to be installed in double-swing gate, in the same way that the motor used in a single swing is not the one you can find in the latter. Nevertheless, you have to main options as where you are going to place it. You can have it on the ground or, better yet, under it.

2. Electric gate openers. As the name suggests, openers are meant to help you open the gates. Before, there were only a few who can afford to add an opener in the gates. But with the integration of new technologies and their affordability, there are more and more people who are employing the use of electric gates at their own home.

There are various kinds of openers for electric gates; and they range from wireless to wired keypads, automated gate locks, or entry transmitters. What you are going to use is basically dependent on your preference. However, if you want the one that offers the best convenience, you can go for the entry transmitters. They make use of an RF (radio frequency) card that the person who wants to enter needs to swipe into the reader. There’s no need to press any more button, memorise any code, or wait much longer, which is the case with intercom systems.

Electric Gate Accessories

Aside from the regular parts, you can also add some more accessories to your electronic gate. One of these is the electronic timer. You can actually set a good time where you will grant a “free pass” to your gate. You simply need to set up the best time for it using the timer. It can run for as long as 20 hours and powered through a battery. You can also make use of a fire control switch key, especially when there is fire in your home, and your electronic gate is not working properly anymore.

Where to Buy Components for Electric Gates

There are a lot of options as to where you can purchase these parts. You can simply visit your local gate makers. Usually, they have at least the motor and the opener. You can also shop online, as there are a lot of people who are currently selling them right now.

Finding clients for your freelance business

Once you have a little experience you can show your potential clients its time to start looking for them. The simplest way to to this is to create and maintain a client list.

To get your client list started, research what companies you would like to work for. Check out their websites, especially any employment section they may have, as they may have freelance opportunities listed. If they already use freelancers you'll have a much easier time getting them to consider you than if they are unfamiliar with freelancers.

Study their needs. Even if they don't have any job listings on their website or don't have a website, you can research what the company does to determine where you could help them. You need to know how to present yourself and your skills when you write your query letter. Showing that you understand what their business does shows that you are a professional.

Expect rejection. It's simply a fact of life as a freelancer. Maybe they just don't need you at the moment or maybe your style doesn't appeal to them. Whatever the reason there are plenty of other things you can do.

Do not pester companies to hire you, but don't give up too quickly either. Monthly is about right when it comes to checking to see if their needs have changed.

Even though you now have experience, don't neglect the online resources mentioned before. Now is the time to start going for the higher paying assignments and more challenging employers. Clients who appreciate professional work don't mind paying for a good job. They may not always be easy to find but they are out there.

If writing articles is your style, don't forget to buy Writer's Market. It's one of the best resources out there for freelance writers. There are similar resources for other freelance careers.

If you aren't getting enough work, just use the time you would like to spend working for pay practicing your skills. Pretend you have an assignment. Interview family members, write articles, reports, instruction manuals for software you own, whatever you hope to do for an employer do on your own.

Above all else, keep your habits professional. Maintain a solid work schedule and don't treat your business as a hobby or that is all it will be.

Michael vick the fallen nfl star

Michael Vick is arguably one of the biggest starts in the NFL. Why would a man with so much fame and fortune make the foolish mistakes he has made and destroy his career?

I am a former NFL player and I asked my friends in the NFL why they think Michael Vick made the dumb mistakes he made. My friends told me they thought it was because he was trying to be loyal to his friends. I agree, but what I really think it was, was peer - pressure.

I am writing this article to warn children, teens, and adults about the dangers of peer - pressure and that it can make you do really stupid and harmful things, just as it did with Michael Vick.

You must be a strong person and have your own mind. You must make your own decisions and do what you know is right and moral. When I was growing up I had friends that were in gangs and drugs. When I was young I thought they were cool. They accepted me and wanted me to be like them and do the things they did, even though what they were doing was wrong. I loved my friends but I knew in my heart that what they were doing was wrong. Many of my friends died because of drugs and gang-related violence. I look back at the things they did and I now know that the things they were doing was not cool. In fact, they were being stupid and putting themselves in harmful situations. I am sure they knew it too but the peer pressure of being cool and fitting in with their friends was more powerful than their will to keep themselves out of trouble. So, they allowed themselves to fall to peer-pressure.

I did not have a father growing up. Because of that I was not taught by a male father figure how to behave. Therefore, my male friends were my role models as to how a man should behave. But now as a grown man who has witnessed the consequences of making bad decisions caused by peer-pressure, I know that you have to make your own decisions in life. You have to be responsible for yourself. Just because your friends are doing something does not mean you have to do it too. You have to be strong and do what you know is right. Life is too short and valuable to get into trouble in ruin your life as Michael Vick has done. Michael had the world in his hands and lost it all because he wanted to be cool in front of his friends who were involved in illegal and immoral activities.

I want to give you some options to help yourself make the right decision when you are faced with peer-pressure:

1. Always think of the most important person you love before you make the wrong choice. Think of how you would hurt that person if you do something wrong.

2. Ask yourself if doing what your friends want you to do will help your future or destroy it? Michael Vick should have been asking himself this question. If he did, he would not be in the horrible situation he is in now.

3. Ask yourself, “Is this who I really want to be?” Are the friends I hang out with the type of people I want to be? You need to decide who you want to be and choose friends who have your same values and will you achieve your goals instead bringing you down and destroying your life.

4. Ask yourself, “When it's all over will my friends be there for me?” Are your friends good people who care about you and want to see you succeed in life or are they using you for self gain?

5. Ask yourself, “Is it all worth it?” In the grand scheme of life, is making a decision to follow your friends going to have a positive or negative impact on your life?

I promise you that these are the questions Michael Vick is asking himself over and over. You can be guaranteed that if Michael could go back in time he would never make the stupid decisions he has made by falling to peer-pressure. Learn from Michael Vick’s mistakes and always ask yourself before making any decision if that decision will help or hurt your life. Think before you act and never make a poor decision just because your friends think it is the cool thing to do. Be strong and do the right thing.

Oily vs. dry choosing what skin care treatment to use

An unknown student once wrote on his desk, “You can't face your problem if your problem is your face.” Though intended only for humor, this curious statement may mean a lot to those who are bothered by imperfections on their faces especially their skin. Often, people complain about having pimples, wrinkles or blemishes and are baffled with what to do about it. Advertisements seen on television, newspapers, posters and billboards show various products claiming to be the miracle solution for all skin problems. People who model these products highly entice the ordinary buyer to believe in their statements. It is not safe, however, just to follow blindly. When it comes to skin problems and treatments, it is best to understand the underlying causes or processes that are involved and how it is related in one's situation.

A good starting point when it comes to identifying the right skin care treatment to be used is to determine the type of skin one has. Classification of types of skin range from dry skin to oily skin. Each type may then have a corresponding skin problem to address. It is important to take note of the type of skin one has since skin care products are also designed in relation to the common skin types of consumers.

For people who have dry skin, the most common problems to be expected is premature skin aging and appearance of wrinkles. Dry skin results from lack of moisture and is commonly experienced during cold season. To address this problem, one can make use of moisturizers available in the market. It is better to make use of those products that are fragrance-free and has less amount of preservatives used to limit the chemical content that might cause irritation. Note that humectants and emollients are contained in moisturizers and these components are responsible for absorbing water to increase the moisture of the skin and replacing lipids. Moisturizers also come in two kinds, those that are oil-based and those that are water-based. People with oily skin may still opt to make use of moisturizers during cold season and it is better for them to choose the water-based kind.

On the other hand, the ones with oily skin usually have to worry about having pimples, blackheads and blemishes. This skin type is brought about by overactive sebaceous glands which may be a consequence of heredity, diet, humidity or cosmetics used. In terms of skin care products, people with this skin type must carefully choose those that are oil-free or are not oil-based. Regular cleansing is necessary to decrease the appearance of greasiness but note that the cleanser used should be alcohol-free and soap-free if possible. It is also better to make use of lukewarm water when cleansing since it will help dissolve oil faster. It is not advisable to use moisturizers unless the skin is becoming dry due to changes in season or temperature. In cases where pimples come about as a consequence of this skin type, common treatments for such are those products containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. When cases are severe such those of people with acne, it is better to consult a dermatologist first before deciding upon what products to use as treatment. Blemishes usually result from having pimples or acne and may be treated through exfoliation. However, one should be careful in using products for skin exfoliation because some may be too harsh for the skin and cause further complications.

Skin care treatment, therefore, is not just blindly following what the advertisers of skin care products claim. Doing this might just be of minimal help in solving the problem, if not at all. Worse, this might cause further complications if wrong products are used. With regards to matters such these, it is really important to determine first the type of skin a person has. Next is to know the appropriate product to be used relative to one's skin type. Taking note of the components, substances or chemicals contained in skin care products will also help avoid further complications or irritations and maximize the treatment's effectiveness.

Blood stain removal

:
Here's the short lesson on blood stain removal: act fast. Carpets today usually come with stain-resistant treatments, so even blood can be removed if you get it right away. The longer the delay, the more difficult removing any carpet stain becomes, and there are no stain-proof carpets yet. With blood, the process of coagulation makes it especially hard to get the stain out if it is old and dried.

Step-By-Step Blood Stain Removal

1. Rinse and extract the blood stain with cold water. Apply just a little at a time, so you don't spread the stain. Hot water can set the stain, making it permanent, so use only cold water. Add the water, then blot it up with a clean white cloth or white paper towels. You can also suck the solution out with a shop-vac, which means less of a chance of spreading the stain.

2. Remove the remaining stain with a solution of a few drops of Dawn dish washing detergent in a cup of cold water. Work it into the blood stain, but be careful not to spread the stain. Blot the area with a clean white cotton cloth or white paper towels, but don't rub the stain, as this can damage the fibers. Damaged fibers hold stains and get stained in the future more easily.

3. Repeat the process as many times as is necessary, or until there is no more transfer of the stain from the carpet to the cloth or paper towels. Then blot up excess water when you are done.

4. Leave the fan blowing on the area to dry it quickly. Otherwise, set a stack of paper towels (white) on the stained area, or a couple clean white cotton cloths, and put something heavy on them. Leave this to blot up the remaining liquid, replacing the cloth or paper towels as necessary. Fast drying keeps any remaining stain deeper in the carpet from "wicking up" to the surface and becoming visible again.

Some have reported good luck using club soda to remove blood stains, so if the above instructions don't work, you can try that next. It's not easy to predict which stains will come out and which won't until you try. This is because of various types of carpet fibers and other factors. For example, wool and other natural fibers are usually more difficult to remove stains from. As with all stains, use water first before trying other solvents for blood stain removal.

Natural vitamin sources

:
There are a lot of people who do not have enough natural vitamin sources in their diet and therefore suffer from a deficiency of one or more vitamins. Obviously, it is possible to buy vitamin supplements to help overcome any deficiencies but for the majority of people it should be possible for them to obtain the majority of their recommended daily allowance of vitamins from natural vitamin sources. The key to gaining the correct amount of vitamins from natural vitamin sources is to eat a healthy and balanced diet.

There are certain diets, such as vegetarian, that provide a limited number of natural vitamin supplements and therefore a supplement may be necessary. Also, the intake required of these natural vitamin sources at certain periods may need to be increased and a supplement may be the best option. It is important to be aware of each of the different types of vitamins and their best natural vitamin sources so that a person can incorporate as many of these as possible into their regular diet. Water soluble vitamins cannot be stored in the body and need to be replenished on a daily basis so it is natural vitamin sources for these vitamins that are the most essential to know.

Brett favre

Born October 10, 1969, Brett Lorenzo Favre now has 14 years of National Football League experience. This Mississippi native was born in Gulport and grew up in Kiln, which was a very small town with less than 100 residents. This boy who grew up in a small town had nothing but big dreams that he would someday make come true. In his early years, the youngster grew up idolizing a pair of legendary quarterbacks by the name of Archie Manning and Roger Staubach. Having played football at Hancock North Central High School in Kiln, Favre began to get a taste of the game and he loved it. After attending college at the University of Southern Mississippi, he began making his way to the professional league.

One of the best known quarterbacks in NFL history, Favre began his rookie season in 1991 with the Atlanta Falcons. The following year, in 2002, he accepted a position with the Green Bay Packers where he remains today. Still retaining an active NFL contract after 15 years, Favre leaves little doubt that he is already a legend of the game.

Among the many recognitions that Brett Favre has received include being the NFL’s only three-time MVP (Most Valuable Player), which he achieved consecutively in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Additionally, he is ranked third on the all-time quarterback wins list, holds the fourth highest winning percentage and possesses a home record. He started 205 consecutive games, which set a quarterback record. One of the most interesting facts about Favre’s earliest plays is the fact that his first NFL completion was to himself in a September 1992 game against Tampa Bay. The event unfolded as Favre caught a deflection pass that he had just thrown before being tackled for a 7 yard loss.

Today, Brett Favre contributes to the NFL and also to the community. In 1996, The Brett Favre Fourward Foundation was established in order to provide aid to disadvantaged and disabled children in Wisconsin and Mississippi. Since it’s inception, the foundation had donated more than $1.5 million to charities with the help of an annual golf tournament, celebrity softball game and fundraising dinners.

Also in 1996, Favre married longtime love Deanna Tynes and the couple now has two daughters. During his free time, Brett is an avid golfer and is a fan of televised nature programs, crossword puzzles and fishing. In recognition of his great accomplishments in the NFL, Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle proclaimed November 29, 2004 as “Brett Favre Day.”

Is this uranium bull market for real

In light of Toshiba’s recent proposed acquisition of Westinghouse Electric from the government-owned British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL), historians may be reminded of former Westinghouse Chairman Robert Kirby’s litigious international outcry and prolonged battle over secretive and illegal price manipulation by a global uranium cartel. In the 1970s, Westinghouse, determined to capture the world market of building nuclear reactors, offered dirt-cheap nuclear fuel as part of its incentive to get sales from utility companies. The company’s 27 utility customers had locked in agreements with Westinghouse to provide them with 65 million pounds of U3O8 over the next twenty years, well into the 1990s. Those contracts set off one of the most curious legal battles of the 1970’s, ultimately reducing Westinghouse to a shell of the powerhouse it once was.

In recent weeks, Toshiba (London Stock Exchange: TOS; Tokyo Stock Exchange Ticker Code: 6502) has been strongly criticized for the Westinghouse acquisition, and may sell as much as 49 percent of the deal to two other Japanese firms and a smaller stake to an American firm. Toshiba’s CFO, Sadazumi Ryu said the company would pay for some of its acquisition costs within three years out of current cash flow plus float debt to about 115 percent of equity. Will Toshiba repeat the mistakes made by Westinghouse in the mid 1970s during the last uranium bull market?

Today, Toshiba aims its sights on the lucrative Chinese nuclear energy market, which on the surface appears more ambitious than the U. S. civilian nuclear program of the 1970’s. Toshiba wants to be a major beneficiary of China’s aggressive plans to expand the country’s nuclear energy program. And why not? Uranium prices have soared the past few years. Spot uranium rocketed in 2005 at an even faster degree than in 1975. That was the year when Westinghouse’s Robert Kirby was told by his doctor to not even bother giving up his chain-smoking habit. Things at Westinghouse had gotten that bad.

The head of the Pittsburgh-based conglomerate failed to grasp what was behind the escalating uranium price during the 1970s. His Westinghouse incentive plan sounded great when spot uranium sold for $6/pound. However, at $40/pound, Westinghouse got stuck with potential liabilities of more than $2 billion (1970s dollars) because of his offer to provide the utilities with cheap fuel. By July 1975, Kirby began blaming the world’s uranium cartel, which he believed manipulated the spot price higher to piggyback his company’s development plans. Across from Kirby’s offices in Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle were the offices of Gulf Oil, a uranium supplier, whom he believed to be a member of the uranium cartel. By September 1975, Westinghouse announced a shortfall of 25,000 metric tons of uranium, and claimed “commercial impracticability” in honoring its nuclear fuel commitments to the 27 utilities. And the lawsuits began.

According to a special report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Kirby’s “suspicions heightened when, in late 1976, he received copies of documents suggesting Gulf and 28 other suppliers had conspired to form a cartel to keep Westinghouse out of the uranium business.” The documents were the minutes of a private meeting of uranium suppliers held in Australia. In a bizarre twist of fate, the whistleblower came in the form of Friends of the Earth, which offered Westinghouse additional documents if the nuclear power plant manufacturer would help the environmental group release jailed members in the Philippines. Kirby ran with what he had, ignoring their request, and began a course of intense litigation. The lawsuits were eventually consolidated and heard in a federal district court in Virginia. During the course of the litigation, Westinghouse took its grievances to London’s House of Lords, setting international case law about the discovery process in litigations.

What really happened in the 1970’s?

Kirby and Westinghouse were caught up in an international trade dispute, during a world revival of the uranium market. Uranium prices had collapsed in December 1959 when the U. S. government placed an embargo on the purchase of foreign uranium for domestic purposes. The embargo came after the nuclear weapons build-up of the 1950s had peaked. In 1959 alone, the U. S. bought 20,000 metric tonnes of uranium for the country’s weapon procurement program, about 61 percent from Canada. Within a week after the embargo, global uranium prices fell by 75 percent. Twenty-four out of the 28 Canadian uranium producers and processors left the business.

Two Canadian crown corporations remained with viable uranium assets to mine and sell. Eldorado Mining and Refining Ltd had stakes in mines at Port Radium, Key Lake and Rabbit Lake. The provincially owned Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation owned had stakes in Key Lake, Cluff Lake and Down Lake. Before 1942, Eldorado Mining (later re-named El Dorado Nuclear Ltd) had been a privately owned radium company, which in that year was taken over by the Canadian government and made into a crown corporation. During World War II and for the next decade, the company’s raison d’etre was to produce uranium for the U. S. and U. K. nuclear weapons programs.

By 1956, both countries looked elsewhere for their uranium. By 1965, Canada’s production plummeted to 3,000 tonnes from a peak of 12, 000 tonnes annum in 1959. Canada’s uranium exploration came to a standstill, and only three mines remained operational. Boom town Elliot Lake became a ghost town. Lacking buyers, a self-serving Canadian Prime Minister Lester Pearson announced in 1965 that Canada’s exported uranium would only “be used for peaceful purposes only.” Nearly a year earlier, the U. S. government had banned the enrichment of foreign uranium for domestic use, pre-empting any newsworthy value to Pearson’s announcement.

Between 1964 and 1967, more than sixty nuclear reactors were ordered for the U. S. civilian nuclear energy program. Westinghouse’s newly designed light-water reactor created excitement within the industry. During that time, Canadian uranium exploration was taken out of mothballs and production resumed. Hardball shenanigans in Washington kept the uranium ban intact, and global uranium prices reached an all-time nadir of $4/pound. Canada was shut out of the U. S. nuclear fuel cycle market, and Ottawa was forced to stockpile a reported $100 million of uranium during the Nixon presidential administration. By late 1971, Prime Minister Trudeau’s cabinet had reached the end of their rope failing at every step to remove the ban by diplomatic means.

News reports suggest a number of uranium-heavy countries held an initial meeting in Paris in February 1972 to establish a uranium-producer’s alliance, in essence a de facto uranium cartel. Others suggest it was formed in April 1972, after the Canadian government reportedly gave its blessing. Canadian author Gordon Edwards (Canada’s Nuclear History) bluntly wrote, “The purpose of the cartel was to secretly manipulate world uranium prices using a phony bidding system. Hidden quotas were established by representatives from Canada, France, Australia, South Africa and Rio Tinto Zinc (London Stock Exchange: RIO).” Namibia and Niger were also included in the alliance, as was Gulf Oil, at least according to Robert Kirby of Westinghouse.

When the U. S. government re-affirmed its trade embargo in March of that year, a subsequent uranium cartel meeting took place in Johannesburg, South Africa in May 1972. At an Ottawa conference on May 28, 1972, it was reported that Jack Austin, then deputy minister of energy, voiced his concern the cartel could be considered illegal under Canadian law. Nonetheless, the politicians gave the uranium cartel a green light.

The alleged price manipulation was paying off. In 1973, the spot uranium price doubled. By 1976, it doubled again and stayed above $40/pound for nearly four years. It was around that time the alleged cartel disbanded to avoid international anti-trust laws, which Westinghouse was arguing after unleashing a tsunami of litigation. Westinghouse was desperate to escape its liability over the promise of cheap uranium to utilities. In March 1976, the U. S. Department of Justice began investigating possible infringements of U. S. anti-trust laws by the alliance of uranium producers. By mid 1977, a federal grand jury had been formed to pursue the investigations and possibly initiate criminal proceedings.

In a letter dated July 12, 1977, the U. S. Attorney-General wrote to the U. S. District Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, explaining the quandary this international episode had caused and discussed invoking immunity to obtain witnesses who would talk about the alleged conspiracy:

“These persons are not likely to come within the personal jurisdiction of the United States courts so long as the Department of Justice continues a sitting grand jury investigation of the international uranium industry; (3) These persons are British subjects and we have determined that it is highly unlikely that their testimony could be obtained through existing arrangements for law enforcement co-operation between the United States and the United Kingdom; (4) The Department of Justice has been largely unable to obtain information from these foreign persons about the subject matter of this investigation…”

By mid 1978, Westinghouse Electric’s complaint against Rio Tinto Zinc in the United Kingdom floundered in that country’s court system. Obtaining evidence in England was markedly different from the U. S. style of depositions.

Conclusion

During this litigious period, Westinghouse settled with several utilities, but continued to pursue the lawsuits. By 1979, Judge Merhige in the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division, ordered Westinghouse and the utilities to equitably resolve their differences. Westinghouse agreed to concessions that ultimately cost the company nearly $1 billion, but locked up the utilities as long-term customers by providing parts and engineering services for up to 25 years. In quiet out-of-court settlements, the uranium suppliers paid Westinghouse nearly $100 million and supplied the company with uranium.

Besides, there was another cartel in the 1970’s, which posed a far greater risk to the developed nations. From the oil embargo, which began 1973 and throughout the decade, the OPEC oil cartel overshadowed the tiny uranium cartel. Saudi King Faisal’s “oil sword” had a far greater impact on the energy climate, Gross Domestic Product, inflation and quality of lifestyles, than an anxious alliance of uranium producers trying to meet production costs and peddle stockpiled inventory at higher prices. Not only was the oil crisis a more serious affair, but another un-related episode tanked the price of uranium.

Just as the decade was coming to a close, on March 28, 1979, a water pump broke down at the Three Mile Island nuclear plant, about ten miles southeast of the Pennsylvania state capital. It was an unexpected event, heightened Hollywood-style, as the accident coincided with the opening of a new movie called The China Syndrome, starring Jane Fonda, Michael Douglas and Jack Lemmon. In short order, many Americans were persuaded that events within the movie were somehow related to the Three Mile Island event. This was a Hollywood PR man’s dream. Fanning the media flames to capture a larger box office gross, a basically nothing episode (in terms of loss of human life, since no one died from the reactor accident) was transformed into an earth-shattering campaign against the entire nuclear energy industry. Ironically, more died in the movie (one, Jack Lemmon’s character) than as a direct result of the Three Mile Island accident (0 reportedly died).

Hysterical commentary from that era bespoke of a nuclear accident, which would melt down to the earth’s core, as one character in the movie suggested. Unable to distinguish what was movie fiction from scientific reality, the movie’s message left a horrifying memory in the collective minds of the general populace. A general panic followed, and nuclear energy was badly tainted by the accident. As the momentum for building U. S. nuclear power plants came to a grinding halt, overflowing inventories for the raw material to fuel those power plants had once again nullified the uranium exploration and mining sector. It took more than two decades to draw down those built-up uranium inventories, about as long as it has taken for the public to once again accept nuclear energy as a safer, cleaner alternative to fossil-fuel powered electricity.

Why is today’s uranium bull market different? Is the current and spectacular rise in spot uranium prices different today than it was in the early to mid 1970’s, when an alleged uranium cartel reportedly bid up prices to an artificial level? Is that same factor occurring during the current steep rise in the spot price of uranium? Will Toshiba sink into the same quicksand, during the balance of this decade, as Westinghouse Electric once did?

Forex is like a casino playing too much can be painful

Between 5 p. m. EST Sunday and 4 p. m. EST Friday, there are millions of Forex traders around the world trying to make a profit by predicting the future movement of currency exchange rates. With nearly 1.8 trillion dollars changing hands each and every day, the Forex is the largest and most fluid market in the world. Traded 24-hours a day and with investors having instant access to price changes via an Internet station, it is literally possible to watch one’s fortunes ebb and flow—one pip at a time!

A pip is equal to the smallest price increment that any currency can make. For the U. S. dollar and most major currencies, that amounts to 0.0001 (0.01 for the Japanese Yen). While it seems near impossible to make any money when dealing with such small numbers, the standard transaction unit on the Forex is $100,000 and is called a lot. Thus, the movement of just a few pips in either direction can turn into big profits or big losses—real fast!

In truth, playing the Forex is much safer than heading into a casino because the odds are not automatically stacked against you—but you can still lose your shirt if you over trade. Just like professional gamblers will tell you that playing against the casinos is a losing proposition—professional and successful Forex traders know that trading too often is simply stacking the odds against them.

For whatever reason, most of us are simply not going to risk $100,000 of our own money on something as volatile as the Forex. This is why the margin is such an important factor when thinking about buying and selling positions. Typically, an investor would need to put up $1,000 of their own money to buy a lot, or 1/100 of the total. Leveraging a position may be a practical necessity but it also means that the average investor is more at risk when it comes to price fluctuations. The more leveraged the position, the greater it will be affected by pip movements—up or down.

Making a profit in the Forex market boils down to knowing when to enter and exit a position—period. Investors place stops on orders to help limit losses and they need to rely on those stops to prevent them from losing too much—or bailing too soon! Investors who track the market every minute of the day and constantly monitor their positions are not only more likely to go crazy—they are also more likely to bail when the price starts to dip. So long as you have stops in place and are sticking with your investing strategy—be patient! At most, check the market at the close of each day and just hold to your strategy until the charts indicate otherwise.

It is difficult—almost impossible—not to worry about your investments so the natural impulse is to monitor them closely. However, the time to do your homework and put in the time is before acquiring a position—not after. Backtesting will help you find the best currency pairs for your investment tastes. How to get cheap life insurance online in arkansas

Buying life insurance is almost a rite of passage into the responsible, adult world. Most people wait until they have a spouse and family before purchasing life insurance, and the very act of buying life insurance demonstrates a certain level of maturity – after all, the person buying the life insurance policy will never benefit directly from the sacrifices that must be made to pay the monthly premiums on the insurance.

No – it is the family and loved ones left behind who will benefit from the unselfish act of purchasing life insurance.

Still, no matter how unselfish or even noble the purchasing of life insurance might be, most people still want to get cheap life insurance online here in Arkansas. And fortunately there are several rather simple things you can do to insure that you find the best rate possible.

Before we jump online to compare policies and prices let's make sure we've done everything possible to keep our monthly life insurance premium as low as possible.

First, buy your insurance before your next birthday. Each year that passes drives the cost of your life insurance higher and higher.

Next, decide on which type of life insurance is right for your situation. There are basically two different kinds of life insurance policies you need to choose between, and your decision can make a world of difference later on in your life.

You need to choose between whole life or term life insurance.

Term life starts out costing you less each month, and so many people assume it is the better deal. Keep in mind, though, that a term life policy is only good for a limited number of years. When that time is up, when the policy has run its term, then your life insurance coverage is ended. If you want to continue your life insurance you will need to buy a new policy – at a much higher monthly premium.

If your term policy runs its term several times during your lifetime, you could end up with a very expensive policy right at the time in your life when you will have the fewest resources available to pay for your insurance.

A whole life policy costs more up-front but a whole life policy is good for your whole life – and so are the premiums you pay. The premiums on a whole life policy never change for the life of the policy.

Also, a whole life policy builds up a cash value after a while and you are able to borrow against this cash value at very low rates.

But regardless of which type of policy you decide on, you still want to keep your monthly premium payments as low as possible.

Start by keeping your credit rating clean. It may sound crazy, but the better your credit score, the lower your life insurance premiums are going to be.

Don't smoke or use any tobacco products. Using tobacco shortens your life and increases your monthly insurance premiums.

Similarly, being overweight shortens your life and also increases your monthly premiums. Losing even a little weight may bump you down into a lower weight category and that could save you money month after month, year after year, so do whatever you can to lose even a little weight if you are applying for life insurance.

Driving a fast sports car or routinely participating in extreme sports or having a career that is considered dangerous are all certain to increase your monthly premium.

O. K., now you've got an idea of what you need to do in order to keep your life insurance premium under control, so get online and start comparing policies and their prices from different insurance companies.

Keep in mind that each website you make comparisons on only compares a small number of companies, so if you are really serious about getting the cheapest life insurance possible in the state of Arkansas you're just going to have to make the time to check out the prices on at least 3 different websites.

Once you've done that then you can feel confident that you've done everything you can to get cheap life insurance online in Arkansas, and you can feel pretty darn good about yourself.

It s a bullish signal when a company buys back it s own shares

Dear Fellow Investor.

Shareholders and investors of two blue-chip companies were treated to good news on Monday July 9, 2007, that carries potentially bullish long-term consequences.

First, Johnson & Johnson announced the repurchase of up to $10 billion of its common stock. Then ConocoPhillips announced the repurchase of a $15 billion share buyback programme, representing an increase of $13 billion above the $2 billion that remained in a previous buyback program.

But why is a buyback programme a positive sign for investors? Why would a repurchase carry such bullish potential? One explanation is in terms of simple supply and demand: Repurchases reduce the supply of a company's outstanding stock, which should increase the price of those shares that remain.

Another explanation is that companies that repurchase their shares are so confident about their future prospects that they are willing to commit corporate resources to buying them. This is worth paying attention to, since a company's executives and Board of Directors have access to insider information that the rest of us do not.

Like such, repurchase programs are analogous to corporate insiders purchasing their companies' shares for their own accounts. Both signal confidence in the company's future prospects which again is a bullish signal.

In a nutshell:

When a company reduces the amount of shares outstanding by declaring a stock buy back program, each of the shares becomes more valuable and represents a greater percentage of equity in the company.

So when putting together your portfolio, you could seek out strong and solid companies that engage in these sorts of pro-shareholder practices and hold on to them as long as the fundamentals remain sound.

One of the best examples is the Washington Post, which at one time was only $5 to $10 a share. It has traded as high as $650 already. That what I call long-term value!

But be aware! Even though buy backs can be huge sources of long-term profit for investors, they are actually harmful if a company pays more for its stock than it is worth. In an overpriced market, it would be foolish for management to purchase equity at all, even in itself.

Instead, the company should put the money into assets that can be easily converted back into cash. This way, when the market swung the other way and is trading below its true value, shares of the company can be bought back up at a discount, ensuring current shareholders receive maximum benefit. Remember, even the best investment in the world isn't a good investment if you pay too much for it.

Innovate your way to success

Large successful corporations started as small companies. They were once unknown entities thriving on with their limited available funds. In a world where large corporations dominate the market, small companies would easily collapse.

So what have made these used to be small companies stay in the market? Innovation breeds success. When these companies were just starting out, they were not afraid to try out something new. Innovation is taking improvement to a much higher level. Whereas improvement is just making an existing process or product better, innovation is creating changes and discovering new methods.

Innovation is thinking out of the box. To be innovative, one must not set limitations to what he could do. Chances for success stops the moment limitations are set upon the horizons.

When things might seem hopeless, innovation could give more options. Companies that are just starting up definitely needs a lot of innovation. External factors might lack confidence in what a company can possibly do. Funds might be low but it shouldn't hinder a company from succeeding. Innovation is capable of creating opportunities when none could be found.

At first, ideas generated might seem absurd but when these ideas are taken further, these create more feasible possibilities. Success stories usually begin with formulating ideas and creating ways to materialize them. At the onset, ideas are usually ridiculed and thought of as silly imaginations which couldn't be done.

With the very competitive market that we have today, innovation is important. One small innovative idea could spell great success for a company. Innovation gives the lead from other competitors. Opportunities will continue pouring in as more and more ideas are generated.

In a day, millions of ideas are generated, but only a few of them really make it out to the market and fewer stays in the market. In business, pursuing that brilliant idea would make a significant difference. Starting from scratch is not at all a problem. That's precisely what innovation is - creating something out of nothing. A lot of businesses benefit from this.

Innovation could also be applied to marketing strategies. New approach to business marketing would lead to better product advertising. Customers are always dying to try out something new. There are always room for improvement, as well as lot more room for more new business ideas. In the fight to stay in the market, those who have shown surprising and breakthrough ideas are the ones that stay.

Most of the time, failures are inevitable but these do not dampen the spirits of an innovator. Being innovative does not happen overnight, it is a product taking each outrageous idea to the next higher level.

Failures contribute to successes. Successful companies definitely had their share of failures. Usually these might even outnumber their successes. However, success due to just one innovative idea reap greater effects than a million failures. Those failures will just then be considered chapters of a great success story.

Anybody could be innovative if they chose to be so. All it takes is just a lot of freedom to let the thoughts wander about. Businesses are in cutthroat competition with each other. Whoever gets to discover new ways and products usually gets the edge.

Being innovative is defying every limits set by yourself or by other people. When others might think that it won't be possible, innovators take it as a challenge. To be innovative means developing strong visions and working on those visions for the success of the business.

Usually, innovation would initially draw negative reactions. It would shake up the existing status quo. It is not afraid to take calculated risks. When this happens, it would broaden the opportunities for the business, thus giving it greater chances for success.

Low rate loans

Low rate loans are available from our market leading lenders and the one you choose will depend on how well they satisfy your particular requirements. One way to get the most competitive low rate loans is to look at the loans that offer the lowest APRs or Annual Percentage Rates. This is usually a good indication but should be considered along with the type of interest rate you are being quoted. Firstly, a typical interest rate is only an indication of the rate you may be offered as it is the average rate that over 50% of applicants receive. You will be offered an exact rate from the lender for low rate loans once your specific circumstances, the amount you wish to loan and the length of time you’ll need to pay back the loan has been considered. When a lender refers to a set rate then this is the rate offered to all successful applicants regardless of their credit history, loan amount or term.

Generally speaking, secured loans are low rate loans which will have the most competitive interest rates. This is because when you bet your home that you will repay the money borrowed; the lending company is taking a much lower risk lending you money. If you fail to meet your repayments and don’t pay back the loan then you will be putting your home at risk of repossession. The lower risk is reflected in the lower interest rates charged by lenders. In the case of unsecured loans, there is no requirement to secure the loan with your home and this means that the lender is taking on a higher risk. The lender compensates for this by charging you a higher interest rate. Unsecured low rate loans are usually processed quicker than secured low rate loans but it is important to make sure that you can comfortably afford the repayments as creditors have been known to act very aggressively in order to protect their money.

Low rate loans could be the answer for you if you are finding it difficult to meet your monthly debt repayments on credit cards, store cards or other loans. A debt consolidation loan could enable you to reduce your monthly payments but you will probably be paying back the loan for a much longer period. Another advantage is that you could find that you are under less pressure with just one creditor instead of many and this can also simplify your monthly budgeting. It is a good idea to take a look at your income and expenditure and the amount you owe and then work out a budget which also takes emergencies into consideration.

Another factor to consider with low rate loans is your method of application. Lenders can offer different APRs for telephone or postal applications with the lowest APRs for online applications. The reason for this is that when applying online the overheads to the lender are lower and this saving is passed on to you.

APRs are a major consideration when looking for low rate loans but you should also be aware that some lenders charge an early settlement fee or redemption penalty for loans which are paid off before the agreed end date. This could be up to two months interest which is why it is wise to consider whether you would rather pay a slightly higher interest rate but with no settlement clause. It is also important to check whether the lender is quoting you a fixed interest rate (remains constant throughout the term of the loan) or a variable interest rate (can fluctuate with changes in the bank base rate).

Hello world hello voip telephony

The world has shrunk, thanks to an invention called the Internet. Communication is now made easier. Barely two decades ago, a person in Thailand has to wait for weeks for a letter from the United States. Now, a letter can be sent in a matter of seconds, through e-mail or electronic mail. A few years ago, talking to a person halfway across the world is guaranteed to cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Now, with the advent of VoIP telephony, it costs nothing more than a local phone call to your neighbour. Sometimes, it’s even for free!

Defining VoIP

Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP telephony, is the routing of voice conversations over the Internet. It allows anybody to utilize the internet as one gigantic phone line. With VoIP telephony, you can now indulge in talking until your ears heat up and go numb, even if the conversation is with someone from another continent.

VoIP telephony is very straightforward. To avail of this technology, all you need is a computer, a stable Internet connection, and a provider.

What Does VoIP telephony Have for You?

Though still a fairly new technology, VoIP telephony is capable of facilitating tasks that ordinary landlines and mobile phones can’t achieve. VoIP telephony’s number one feature is portability. It is location-independent, requiring only an Internet connection to connect with a provider. Most providers give subscribers a router to connect to their computers. Take this router with you on vacation or a business trip, and hook it up to a local computer with Internet connection. It’s guaranteed that you will never miss a single phone call, wherever you are in the world. You can even choose a phone number that's registered to a city or state other than the one you're in at the moment.

Most of the leading VoIP telephony providers have introduced several features that rival those of landline and cellular phones. One example is caller ID, for both incoming and outgoing calls. Some providers even go as far as providing the option of blocking caller information. Call forwarding to landlines, cellular phones, and other VoIP phone numbers is also offered. Furthermore, other providers are also currently offering toll-free numbers, virtual phone numbers, softphones for added portability, fax lines, and multiply phone lines, and only recently, text messaging service, a milestone for VoIP telephony.

What You Need to Go VoIP

To fully appreciate the wonders of VoIP telephony, a high-speed Internet connection is a must. The technology relies heavily on bandwidth, making it impossible for a slow dial-up connection to support it. Power supply is also essential in VoIP telephony. Routers are connected to computers so an outage in power also leads to an outage in phone service.

VoIP and Emergency

In the past, emergency services posed a problem for VoIP telephony. Owing to the static nature of IP addresses, a call to 911 does not guarantee a connection with the local dispatch center of the caller. Service providers have long since addressed this obstacle by requiring the registration of the physical address where the VoIP line is used. A call to 911 would then display the caller’s address, making it easy for the dispatcher to route the call to the local emergency center. This workaround is called E911 or Enhanced 911.

Like all new technologies, VoIP telephony is far from perfect. There have been reports of bad voice quality in phone calls. However, these issues are being addressed one by one and most VoIP telephony subscribers have seen a great improvement in the quality of their voice calls. You’ll be able to enjoy full voice clarity in no time at all.

How to lease a new car

Whether you lease a car to get into the latest models or have better purchasing flexibility, getting a good deal is always bound to give you a lift. Use these guidelines to help you spot one:

Check incentives: be on the look-out for factory – subsidized lease deals. Car manufacturers realise that consumers who lease vehicles from them are more likely to be repeat customers than those who simply purchase vehicles. Through their leasing companies, they adjust the residual value and offer low financing charge. Other auto-manufacturers are also starting to give incentives on leasing, called leasing subventions. They offer these subsidies to put slow-selling models on the street, saving you even more money.

Set up a competitive: bidding environment to get the lowest price. If you already have an idea in mind of the make, model and trim level of your desired car, attempt to calculate your own lease payment before you go shopping to avoid paying through the roof. Check online comparison tools or use a lease calculator to check your lease payment based on purchase price. This gives you greater negotiation leverage as you solicit quotes from various leasing companies.

Make sure you know all the fees involved at the beginning of your lease: you may have to pay fees for licenses, registration and title. Other fees include acquisition fees, freight fees and local or state taxes. At lease-end, you may have to pay a disposition fee and charges for extra mileage and any excess wear. Be aware that some of these fees – like acquisition and disposition fees – are negotiable.

Know your mileage needs: almost all leases limit the number of miles per year by imposing typically 10 to 20 cents per excess mile over 15,000 miles a year. If you are the kind of high-commuter who puts 40,000 miles a year on his car, then you might end up running thousands of dollars in hefty penalties at the end of your lease. Be smart and negotiate a higher-mileage limit or pad you excess miles at the beginning of your lease to avoid robber tax rates for excess miles.

Almost all leases limit the number of miles per year by imposing fees typically 10 to 20 cents per mile over 15,000 miles per year. If you are the kind of high-commuter who puts a lot miles on his car, then these costs can add up quickly. Negotiate

Include GAP coverage: make sure your lease includes GAP coverage. This covers you in the event of the vehicle getting wrecked, stolen or totalled. Without GAP insurance, you leave yourself wide open to thousands of dollars in leased obligations. Check if the GAP coverage is included so you don’t pay it twice.

Is nail biting a constant problem for you

Nail Biting is a habit where a person usually bites their fingernails or toenails. This maybe because a person is feeling bored, nervous, stressed or he/she maybe hungry. The reasons are varied. Excessive nail biting is a sign of mental or emotional disorder. This habit can be compulsive and a person maybe busy nail biting unconsciously where the person is not at all aware that he/she is doing it. In extreme cases, some people bite their nails while sleeping. Sometimes people do bite very hard, so hard that the shape of their nails is altered. Russian researchers have stated that children who habitually bite their nails have a low IQ. Those who are working with materials such as iron, paint may end up poisoning themselves because nail biting ensures that the chemicals enter the bloodstream through open wounds.
